Recent advances in technology make it possible to design, produce and successfully operate the test benches for full-scale investigations of seismic stability of building structures and various equipment. Electrotechnical components hold a special place in the aggregate of critical equipment. Stable functioning of electrical networks during and after the earthquake is the factor having an impact on relative reduction of damage from the earthquake and the success of restoration work.

The report addresses issues related to the organization of full-scale seismic testing of relatively large power equipment in the ­Russian Federation. In the report there are given the basic characteristics of large test facilities which allow carrying out earthquake resistance tests. The authors contemplate the prospects of creation of specialized testing centers that allow organizing a full range of testing of power equipment in accordance with the international standards.
